TOWN OF SHAFTSBURY

 

            The inhabitants of the Town of Shaftsbury qualified to vote at the Annual Town Meeting are hereby notified and warned to meet at the Elementary School in said Town on Monday, March 3rd, 2008, at 7:30 P.M. to transact the business specified below, to be done from the floor. Following completion of such business, the Meeting will stand adjourned until 7:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 4th, 2008, at the Buck Hill Road Fire House for the election of officers and for voting on ballot articles. On March 4th, 2008, polls will be open from 7:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M.

Residents of Shaftsbury may submit an application to have their names placed upon the voter checklist no later than 5:00 P.M. or the closing of the town clerk's office on Wednesday, February 27th, 2008 in order to vote on March 3rd, 2007 and/ or March 4th, 2008.

Any voter unable to come to the polls may request an absentee ballot from the Town Clerk up until 5:00 P.M. or the closing of the town clerk's office on Monday, March 3rd, 2008.

 

BUSINESS TO BE TRANSACTED FROM THE FLOOR ON MONDAY, MARCH 3rd, 2008 AT

7:30 P.M. 150 BUCK HILL ROAD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.

 

1. To hear the reports of the Town Officers and take action thereon.

2. To Determine:

            A. Whether Selectboard members receive an annual stipend in the amount of $1,000?

B. Whether Town Treasurer receives an annual stipend in the amount of $16,000?           

C. Whether Town Clerk receives an annual stipend in the amount of $8,000?

            D. Whether the Board of Listers receives an hourly rate of $10.00?

E.  What compensation, if any, shall be paid to all other elected Town Officers?

3. To Determine:

A. Will the Town vote to have taxes collected by the Town Treasurer?

B. Will the Town vote to set the date for payment of taxes as

Monday, November 10th, 2008?

4. Shall the Town of Shaftsbury adopt the General Fund Budget for Fiscal Year 2008-2009?

5. To transact any other business found proper when met.
