CAUTION ROUGH ROAD CONDITIONS

SHAFTSBURY – The Shaftsbury Highway Department would like to warn residents to use extra caution when driving on town highways for the remainder of this winter and mud seasons.

Unfortunately, due to several frost and thaw cycles along with a record number of winter storms this season, our winter maintenance budget has been depleted. Due to budget constraints, the Selectboard has asked the highway department to lighten their sand and salt applications for the remainder of the season.

As the weather warms, the roads will thaw and develop serious ruts. Please drive slowly as you traverse through these areas with caution. The highway department is monitoring the situation and is working hard to fix problem areas as they are reported.
