PLASTIC (Containers only -- please remove all caps)
[A] #2 “Dairy” Examples: milk or cider gallon jugs
[B] #2 “Colored” Examples: detergent bottles
[C] #1 “PETE” Examples: mineral water bottles, microwave trays
CANS (You do not have to crush cans or remove labels -- just wash them, please)
[D] Tin Cans Examples: soup cans, coffee cans
[F] Aluminum Examples: soda cans, most cat food cans, pie plates)
GLASS (Bottles -- please remove caps -- you can leave all labels on)
[E] Clear, Broken, Drinking, Blue, Brown, Green, Glass – Food and Beverage Glass

PAPER (Please bag or bundle all loose paper)
[G] Paper products: Examples: newspapers, “white” paper, envelopes, etc.

OIL (A barrel for waste oil is provided for your use)
(Oil jugs must be completely drained)
Motor Oil Note: 5 gallons or less per WEEK -- motor oil only!
Oil Filters Note: residential use only, NO COMMERCIAL USE
HAZARDOUS WASTE IS NOT ALLOWED AT THE RECYCLING CENTER, DEPOSIT AT
HAZARDOUS WASTE DAY EVENTS, SPRING AND FALL
At the landfill there are six disposal areas (see Attendant for locations), as follows:
I. Metal Pile For all scrap metal items -- See Tipping Fees,
II. Tire Pile For all auto, truck, and tractor tires -- See Tipping Fees
III. “C & D” Debris For construction and demolition materials -- See Tipping Fees
IV. Wood Pile For brush, limbs, small stumps, some scrap lumber -- No Fees
V. Compost For leaves, grass clippings, and similar yard waste -- No Fees
VI. Trash Truck For all residential or commercial Shaftsbury-generated garbage not otherwise listed herein or recyclable -- No Fees
Examples: #3, #4, #5, #6, #7 and Wide Mouth #2 plastic (unless you opt to bring these items to the recycling center), food scraps, waste paper, non-recyclable glass (mirrors, porcelain, china, drinking glasses, window glass), plastic bags, toys, cardboard juice and milk cartons, dirty food containers, “peanut” or molded Styrofoam packaging, alkali batteries, clothing, etc.
