Education in the Town of Shaftsbury

The Shaftsbury Elementary School opened in 1956 upon the closing of several one-room school houses within the township. After the 6th grade, students go on to Mount Anthony Union Middle School in Bennington, VT which is the regional middle school.

The local elementary school is a "center" for the community. It functions as a place for the people of the town to gather for Town and other civic meetings, for dramatic productions, for sports, and for adult education courses. Parent involvement in the school is strong and positive. The community cares about it's school and takes pride in the accomplishments of its students.
